Alchemize trauma - Sarah Ketel
Inch by inch,
as slow as breath allows,
we crawl closer
After hard punches
thrown with words
it’s time now
for softer ones
Deeper ones
The kind that sting less
and sink more
Accountability creeps in like dawn,
quiet but undeniable
Stories unravel
Histories exhaled
Not to blame
but to be seen
We rock the boat
We keel the ship
Not a storm this time,
just a sudden
shift in wind
A word
A glance
An echo of something that once cut deep
Anxiety
she’s got a room in my house
Rents free space in my chest
She fires off signals long
before I know they’ve arrived
And when love is the manifest,
keeling hurts harder
It opens skin,
spills the insides
scars on hearts
bruises on memories
truths etched
into
bones
To remain soft?
That’s a warrior’s task
Patience.
Commitment.
Kindness.
A daily devotion.
Because love
love isn’t a magic wand
It’s roses and barbed wire
Sometimes it’s a rope in the grass
Sometimes it’s a dragon
breathing fire into the cracks
of our being
But what’s left
is the alchemy
To take every drop,
every ache,
every ounce of pain
and spin it
into godly honey
thick, golden love
Drink it slow,
until nothing remains
but the holy space
It built
And builds
So I stay
And stay still
Write to ride through a reaction
A woman in a chair,
listening to rain
with no knowing of what’s next
or what was
My body remembers
what I do not
A child inside me
chasing rainbows
and running from pain
I can choose to pause
To question
To meet with wonder
And just
Be still
And wait
Because the research
always,
always leads back to love.
